I loved the TS x Tang Chen moments. Great adaptation. They cock-blocked my TS x Nana scene, but no surprise there--it was nothing overly dramatic in the novel either, so😆...
TS x XW piecing together Qin Ming's death was really creative and well done 👍

I'm tempted to rant again on why TC and Nana (as characters) represent the biggest wasted opportunities ever, but I think that horse is dead LOL.

Buckle up because TS has the fight of his life next week!

Dase • 1 year ago

Youtube Addict wanted to co-author a novel with me, but as I am busy, perhaps you can share your talents and work with him instead and create a better Soul Land version with Tang San ending up with Hu Liena :)

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

Aren’t we already writing our fan fictions every week? Lol

Yes, it frustrates me to no end when writers come out with good round characters but then abandon them halfway instead they choose the flatter two-dimensional characters.🙄

Just like in Juan Siliang, I don’t get why the producer who is the original author of the book would choose Feng Mian over Tu Li especially when the latter is one of the most rounded female characters in the story. If she already knew she has to axe so many episodes, why still give so many scenes and highlights to the “third FL”? Those unnecessary scenes of hers can be given to Tu Li and Jing Xuan instead.

Sorry I don’t mean to pick on Juan Siliang specifically, it was still fresh in my mind since we were talking about it yesterday. That character just stood out like a sore thumb and I thought that’s a good example I can give instead of harping on XW all the time. Fans of hers must have blacklisted me in their circle. LOL

Dase • 1 year ago

lol true

Think she was trying to establish the world, characters, plot during the first season then get into the real stuff, however having said that, if it was a live action drama it would have worked better :)

It is a pretty ambitious project though you must admit, plot, subplots with the main characters and other characters, but with limited budget it doesnt work out that way, let's hope season 2 will bring some answers and it will be better :)

If only you were the author’s editor at the time - you could have told him to go re-write these relationships for a better story.

Fallen@ngel • 1 year ago

I think TJSS doesn't have an editor as he often makes mistakes in his novels.

Zeta • 1 year ago

Two words, lolis sells

Fallen@ngel • 1 year ago

Thing is that as an author, they start with developing the main characters but as they create side characters, they sometimes lose their way and give too much relevance to the side ones which give the side characters more development than the main ones.

Second, preferences - each reader has their own preferences. I prefer Hu Liena in anime over the one in novel. But I prefer Xiao Wu in novel although it annoys me that half way in story, she is just a vegetable waiting to be revived.

On a side note - TJSS is well-known for not being good at creating female characters. In SL2, he tried to make Yuhao less lucky (as he is much liked by fan base it seems) by empowering him but he did so at the cost of the female lead Wutong. Wutong at the start of the novel looked really promising and full of talent which he wasted. His reasons for saying she is weaker than Yuhao also doesn't add up judging by her born talent.

Don't know about your Fan fiction. Do lmk if you are writing one. I for one am writing and posting in Webnovel. "My System is my Wife"
The novel title

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

That sounds funky! I love the title!

douluo • 1 year ago

😜Yeah unfortunately I'm shackled by work too.

Dase • 1 year ago

Can you imagine Tang San and Hu Liena's children with dual Clear Sky Hammer and Charming Fox spirit or Blue Silver Grass and Charming Fox spirit?

The most powerful spirit along with the rarest or the weakest(so people think lol) with the rarest spirit lol

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

Oh yes, a foxy and seductive girl who entwines her victim with blue silver grass before going for the kill! That would be so much more interesting than TS’s current daughter, Tang Wutong who is nothing but another failed character like her mother. Do you know she’s the Butterfly Goddess in the divine realm?🤦‍♂️

Dase • 1 year ago

Nothing surprises me anymore with TJSS lol He should have just made DD 1 much much longer and then stopped it right there instead of continuing on with the sequels which isnt based on the first or previous novels' characters, if you remove all the blood relations references from each novel, then each novel can be a standalone novel and we get a fresh start. But sometimes author's bad habits continues on with every work they do lol

douluo • 1 year ago

🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
Butterfly attack, RUN! LOL

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

Hahaha.. here’s where TJSS continues to surprise us. You’d think he will write a cute bunny with a hammer paw as the offspring of TS and XW but nope, it’s a 🦋 instead! LOL

Rash • 1 year ago

Damn y'all hate XW. Failed character hahaha

douluo • 1 year ago

Yeah not a bad combo lol. Or...what if more simply, they remove Hu Liena and replace her with QR. ie QR is the one, as Bibi's daughter, who fights Shrek at the CE Tourney, and...get's preggers with TS in SC LOL.
The kids would have BSE, Clear Sky, Seraphim God, Sea God, Spider Emperor, and Asura God blood (the later kids anyway lol) 🤣. Talk about winning the genetic lottery.

Dase • 1 year ago

lol pity Qian Renxue got a lot of haters because of how the studio portrayed her, then during her trials her abrupt feelings for Tang San wasnt really done well, we just get a couple of lines explaining how teasing her "sister" about her feelings became hers, and I doubt it will transferred well onto the donghua as well, I should check Chinese forums and weibo to see if there's as much hate for her over there or it is just non novel readers lol

But harem is the way to go :P only one person can hold onto the God position at any time remember :)so those positions cant be given to their children, they can have up to level 99 of that spirit I guess. With Tang San being the exception through swapping with Xiao Wu

douluo • 1 year ago

The funny part is that QR started off, in the disguised capacity, as a really interesting character, He/she was smart, cunning, politically adept, and was even surprisingly honorable and noble at times. Sort of an aristocratic evilness that was really intriguing. Then....meh LOL.

Dase • 1 year ago

yeah if only TJSS didnt rush the ending and made the novel a little longer or writing something before the Sea God trials, things would have been different, but... sigh it is what it is

Fallen@ngel • 1 year ago

What I didn't like about QR was her tsundere personality. She tried to kill TS coz he would not be hers. She gives off the feeling of Bibi Dong 2.0 so I get the feeling she will snap into a very destructive person if she suffers misfortune. Then TS will become a master 2.0

Dase • 1 year ago

Well her personality isnt surprising
- Grew up thinking Tang Hao killed her father so her hatred for Tang San is understandable being her father's killer's son
- The author of the novel for some weird reason decided to add her to the list of women that is in love with Tang San that started pathetically with the illusion trial of hers. So basically she fell in love with an illusion and her feelings became real. The puzzling thing is, isnt that considered a trial failure? No the author decides to run with this -sigh-

- Raised without a mother being present, not that she was in a state to be a mother anyway, she only knows her mother as an cold and heartless megalomaniac she doesnt actually know that Bibi Dong does love her
- Pretty much brainwashed by her grandfather into thinking that they are the righteous ones

- Pretended to be a man while infiltrating the Tiandou empire, suppressing her female side for a number of years

Fallen@ngel • 1 year ago

It's somehow explained that the angel god died long ago. Technically speaking she did fail her trial. Many previous pontiffs did the angel's trials which shows that the 1st elder of martial hall is the one to send the trials. The current overseer of the trial is her grandfather who made it easy for her. He may have bypassed some rules.

The consequences of giving a godseat to an unfit successor is shown with the ending of QRX. Her obsessions with killing TS and owning martial hall as well as the fact she sided with evil when she was supposed to cleanse evil brought the destruction of a god position. She could not see the corruption stems from her organisation rather than outside. QRX with her own hands destroyed her godseat, ruined her martial essence and the potential of all her descendants. She literally destroyed a precious treasure that all the wealth in the world couldn't buy.(godseats are difficult to create and are limited)
It made her look ungrateful and spoilt which she definitely is as everything she has was acquired without much effort. This is the main reason why I dislike her. This is proof of her lack of qualifications. Honestly, to save her life from Bibi Dong, her grandfather did a very foolish and absurd thing. He abused his status as a priest.

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

Conclusion: Anyone but 🐰 would make a more exciting pair with TS because they would “sire” OP offsprings. 😂

Damn, are we affected by the Rakshasa God now? 😈

Dase • 1 year ago

Tang San and Ning Rongrong, children that can fight and heal themselves, totally unkillable lol

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

Hahaha.. I love that combo! Actually when Rong Rong gave TS a kiss after her 7pagoda evolved to 9-pagoda, I thought they would make a cute pair!

Dase • 1 year ago

lol remember the scene where she was with her father and both grandpa Bones and Sword, they thought she like her benefactor and wanted to check him out while she was thinking of Oscar

Fallen@ngel • 1 year ago

U seem to have forgotten that the Tang family is the most op one in God's realm. Only Wutong is weak. Wulin isn't.TS son is destruction Godking. His son-in-law is emotion Godking. His daughter in law is former SGK and is a godking. Xuanyu, his grandson is a unique existence aka dragon god.. His granddaughter may become a godking too (not sure) but his other grand son Huo Zhangji was spoilt to become a godking too with his own god realm. They are op enough as it is. Wutong is the only blacksheep of the family.

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

What's the most powerful and rarest spirits??

Dase • 1 year ago

Clear Sky Hammer is the most powerful, fandom has it as one of the most powerful but I dont see any other when reading the novel or watching the novel. Mind you we are not comparing the levels of the spirits like level 100 God, Sea God spirit Asura or Angel, just the martial soul/spirit.

Before anyone tries a "gotcha reply" Angel or Seraphim spirit is a beast spirit type, it is one of the most powerful beast spirit however it is because and ONLY because of the spirit bones that is bestowed on the person, without the spirit bones their strength is weakened considerably.

Charming Fox is the rarest spirit, Hu Liena's beast spirit

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

You're spot on. I believe I've read it somewhere (in the novel) that CS Hammer can even be regarded as a divine weapon due to its destructive power. Yes, Hu Liena is not only talented but also because her spirit is so rare.

Actually I think TS has the rarest spirit: Blue Silver Emperor. It's a strict unilineal spirit which means TS is the only one who has BSE and it will only be passed on to his descendant after his death. But then again, I don't understand why his mum still has the BSE after her resurrection. Or has it been downgraded to BSG?🤔

Dase • 1 year ago

Authors sometimes forget what they have wrote lol and sometimes when they remember after XX chapters they retcon or change things around lol

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

and that is typical TJSS! 😁

Dase • 1 year ago

lol he isnt the only one though :)

In regards to the Blue Silver Emperor or Empress, it isnt as rare as the Charming Fox, since Blue Silver Grass are abundant, and if they last for a long time they have a chance to evolve and became Blue Silver King (like the old man who helps Tang San to obtain his 5th ring) and eventually if all goes well Blue Silver Emperor/Emperors, but of course given that this variant spirit are usually beast spirits it is rare, reaching human form is even rarer.

Charming Fox has a variant as well, the Nine-tail Fox, which is said to be almost non-existent lol

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

Where did you read about the Nine-tailed fox? Sorry, it's been a while since I last read the novel. But, yeah.. nine-tailed fox is like THE most popular mythical creature in Chinese xianxia world.

Did you read the novel in Chinese or the English translation version? Sometimes I wonder if TJSS published different editions for DD because I swear I don't remember reading the story of TS in Tangmen. But the audio book contains a short prologue of his time there (and no, it's not just about his suicide but it talks about his relationship with Tang Lan and how he was outed).

As for the BSE, I thought it's like a bloodline inheritance, not by cultivation. At least that's what the Blue Silver King said: that TS's blood is purer and more noble than his.

Dase • 1 year ago

Fandom :P lol the manhua had one, and in Soul Land 3, chapter 627
So hopefully no one trolled on the fandom page lol
I mainly read novels on Qidian, but I only finished DD, DD2 I read up to chapter 20ish then stopped, I can only stand so much mistreatment done to the main character.

You are right, it is blood inheritance, although there is BSE in DD2? Not sure if she is related to Tang San but she is 190,000 years old. Again... TJSS probably forgot what he wrote about blood inheritance and retcon it to oh human form beast spirit so make her a BSE lol

Youtube Addict • 1 year ago

Thanks for the pointers! At the moment, I don't intend to revisit any of the DD sequels anytime soon. Maybe when DD2 comes out and if it's revised or refined, then I might reread it just for comparison. But just like you, I cannot tolerate "mistreatment" especially when it involves one of my favourite characters.

Btw, have you heard of the novel "Martial God Asura" (Xiuluo Wu Shen)? douluo what about you? I saw this being listed in Tencent's upcoming 2022 donghua line up. What caught my eyes is not the title but rather, it's produced by Original Force (the same studio that does Fanren). No dates were given though, but looking at the lockdown right now, I'm not surprised if it's being deferred.

I remember when I was reading the DD sequels, I saw this novel being highly talked about in Wuxiaworld. I was tempted to read it at that time, but I was so distressed by the butchering of TS in DD2, I decided not to read novels that would remind me of him. LOL

Dase • 1 year ago

Yes I have heard of Martial God Asura, it is on my to read list lol, yeah with the lockdown situation it might get delayed along with other donghuas like Da Zhu Zai, Doupo Cangqiong, and Soul Land 2. Reading from Chinese sites, it seems the status of MGA is now TBA.

On another note, Wanmei Shijie's author's other work Zhe Tian (Shrounding the Heavens) a sequel, though Shi Hao barely mentioned in it, is also being produced by the same studio, but that's being TBA as well.

And this might perk your interest Yun Shen Ji (the mask) https : //youtu .be /vbLTEWxt17I also being produced by Original Force, but TBA..... seems like a good line up from that studio

Alucard • 1 year ago

That Yun Shen Ji's trailer looks so real.

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

Yeah I thought CSH would probably be the most powerful, but I didn't expect Charming Fox to be the most rare, I'd think the Angel/Seraphim would. Thanks for the info and actually answering unlike Mr Doulo instead giving me the "gotcha reply" with unnecessary spoilers lol, though Idk if that's what you meant. I'll admit he gave some interesting info but I was quite sad after figuring out too late that I should not read further aha.

douluo • 1 year ago

Actually the first that came to mind was Ghost Douluo. As a child, his martial spirit presented as simple black mist and so was bullied mercilessly. And when he drowned/died in a river (even his parents made no effort to save him), he was saved/reincarnated by the Ghost Demon Spirit which fused with this soul and reentered his body--making him something of an undead shadow/mist and extremely difficult to trace.

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

Though I'll admit that was interesting info so I guess thanks, well half & half meaning half thanks and the other half is me screaming NOOOOOO why did you tell me that spoiler 😱🥺😭😩🤦🏾‍♂️lol). I couldn't find a half happy and half sad emoji so I had to add all those aha.

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

I just asked the most powerful and rarest but you gave me a ton of spoilers lmao, I don't think you gave me the answer either??

Blizzerii • 1 year ago

would totally watch this

MonsterStrike Her • 1 year ago

dam tang san actually harsh on her and making our best girl hu liena cry.

Maeriyah • 1 year ago

Why do so many people have issue with Xiao Wu and want hu liena instead, am sorry, but I would rather there is no love because none of them appeal to me, and if I have to choose one, xiao Wu is fine, hu liena doesn't appeal to me, yeah she is a burden, but none of the female in this donghua were worth it and I would rather settle for Xiao Wu, I don't give a damn about the combination that could come out when they have kids, am sorry, I hate donghuas with harem so am not up for it as well, I guess I am pretty bias and unreasonable when donghua does polygamy and it irritates me, I am only for the first girl that the male lead encounters, even if a better option comes, I prefer the first gal I get used to...sadly, this is just my mentality.

Dase • 1 year ago

I actually replied to someone who asked the same question last week, here's the copy and paste with some additional comments below. But before I start, there is nothing wrong with what you said, there are some donghua where harem works but most dont really work well, just another ploy to add more story and forgetting the previous loves along the way. I dont hate Xiao Wu, just that she was written badly by the author who tried to write himself (as Tang San) and his wife (Xiao Wu) in an ideal and perfect love story. Anyway the reasons:

1. The childhood sweetheart kind of ran thin after she died, and during that time some viewers felt she was no different to a money pouch Tang San that carries around
-
2. Her revival took too long and in between her death and revival, the death of her two best friend happened just before her revival took an emotional hit on some viewers, again Xiao Wu could not do anything to help them, to be fair Tang San couldnt save them either
-
3. She has the most plot armour out of the seven Shrek members, she didnt need to do much (in the novel) and was able to be "carried" by Tang San reaching a comparable level to Tang San, while others had to work harder than her. Another example is she became the successor of Asura God, this Godhood is interchangeable with Tang San, but she is the main holder of the Asura God position. without the need to go through the Asura God Trials (like Tang San's great grandfather, Tang Hao, Hu Liena and Tang San)

-

4. Avid readers of the Soul Land series (there are a lot after Soul Land 1) knows that Xiao Wu is the author's beloved wife's persona in the novel, and some are tired of seeing the author wallow in grief by living in the moment through the novel - nothing wrong with that, different people cope with death in different ways, some take longer than others
-
5. Haters being haters will find any excuse
-

6. If you remove Xiao Wu's character from the novel, you will realise how little impact she actually makes overall, apart from the emotional effect she has on Tang San (her sacrifice) she doesnt do much add in for the novel. Without her, Tang San will still do the things he is doing in the novel. he will try and revive his mother, cure his father, oppose the Martial Soul Hall
-

7. Out of the Seven Shreks, she has the least amount of character development, actually no character development to be honest. When you first met her and until now, she is still the same, no changes.
Oscar - grew to be more reliable, steady and rock fast, overcame his weakness as a food spirit user and became less lazy
Fatty - grew to be more mature, less horny, more devoted to Xiangxiang and more responsible and caring towards others
Rongong - grew to be more humble, more caring and supportive, she stopped focusing on superficial appearances (she didnt care about Oscar's scar)
Mubai - grew to be more mature, more devoted to Zhuqing, less selfish and more caring towards others, gave up his position of crown prince to his brother
Zhuqing - became less aloof, interact more with others, became more open and spoke more
-

8. Biggest reason - Hu Liena exists 🥰 - best girl in the novel voted in by many guys pretending to be girls on weibo. But seriously she has a lot more personality than Xiao Wu and if she was Tang San's love interest, it would make a more interesting story. if you ignore the first time we saw her and just give a fresh start when Tang San met her in Slaughter City as Tang Yin, you might see her in a new light and not as someone from the Martial Soul Hall

Maeriyah • 1 year ago

My point is, I didn't even have a good impression on hu liena at first watch, and suddenly she became amiable in the slaughter arena, but rather than feeling anything, I felt empty, I was just not interested, and am probably part of the minority that wasn't interested, she doesn't appeal to me at all, maybe I need to learn to accept changes but I just can't, it's either I like you at first sight or am not interested at all on first sight, and liena falls under the second category, I don't particularly have any good impression, before or after. But I definitely understand you all thought now, so I will read other commentary with this point in mind even if I can't relate, Xiao Wu presence in the drama really had no development/importance

Maeriyah • 1 year ago

I enjoyed reading this, your point is noted, I am not saying you all hate her though, I just understood what so many of you feel about her and I agree, that's why I would have preferred if the story put away the whole love drama, I wasn't for Xiao Wu since the beginning, I had to warm up to her, I am someone that you have to grow on me before I can like you....that's why I hardly always have second lead syndrome in dramas regardless of which country or who the second lead is. On getting introduced to a certain character, I try to find the good part of that character and let go of the bad parts. I am very rude in such a way that I don't accept new stuffs, I don't want new stuffs, I don't like getting confused by a new stuff. I was watching a bl light on me, and I thought the second ml was the ml due to certain problem with mydramalist cast setting, on episode 3, I found I got it all wrong, but I had grown so used to the second ml since he had more screentime and his personality was amazing, I felt irritated and I dropped it. I don't know why I have such reaction to new characters but I am not welcoming to hindrances
